Simon Collinson

Dead Years

So lately this place fills with shrouds and relics, increasingly leaving me grieving for the living, as a gloom descends, dragged down from the places death has touched, tainted by a permanent pall, wrapped in layers of rotten decay, with its sour smells, sickly tastes and ticking sounds moulded with foul words, faded memories and dreadful dreams, surrounding me in memorials of deadness and death. Mind’s become a mausoleum, intruded by the living, helplessly watching a deathly procession, leaving me pressed and weighed down, burdened, smothered and suffocated by fears of being buried alive, deep in the deadlands.

Simon is a ND writer from England. He is a member of the All Seasons writing group. He will be publishing a collection of contemporary Gothic poetry later this year. He seeks stillness and solitude.
